The Baltimore Orioles beat the Buffalo Blue Jays in extra innings by a score of four to three. After all of the extra inning losses the Orioles have suffered by the bats of the Blue Jays, the Orioles finally got their revenge today.
The Orioles started off hot in the top of the first inning when Jose Iglesias hit a single to score Anthony Santander.
Keegan Akin looked good in his first MLB start. The Blue Jays did not put any runs on the board until the bottom of the fifth inning. Unfortunately, the Orioles committed a fielding error to allow two runs to score for the Blue Jays. The Blue Jays took the lead two to one.
A half an inning later, in the top of the sixth Santander doubled to score Hanser Alberto to tie the game.
The score would stay deadlocked at two a piece until the game was over. The game progressed in to extra innings.
In the top of the eleventh inning, Iglesias doubled to bring in Santander to take the lead, three to two. Immediately following, Bryan Holaday came up clutch when he hit a double to score a run to bring the game to four to two.
In the bottom of the eleventh, the Blue Jays looked like they were going to walk it off again. Lourdes Gurriel Jr. singled to score a run to draw closer to tying the game. Fortunately for the Orioles, the defense stopped the Blue Jays from coming back.
Thankfully, the Orioles closed the game out on an awesome play from Iglasias to home plate to get the final out. The Orioles score four runs on ten hits with one error. The Blue Jays scored three runs on seven hits with no errors.
The Orioles return back to Camden Yards for a two game series against the New York Mets tomorrow evening.
Today the Orioles traded Miguel Castro to the Mets for pitching prospect, Kevin Smith and a player to be named later or cash considerations. Castro carries a line of 4.02 earned run average with twenty four strike outs.
